The main reason for building bridges is to span physical obstacles such as valley, road, or body of water, to provide passage over it. The bridge is designed according to the reason of building it, the funds available  to build it, the nature where it is constructed and the material that will be used for building it.

The Garden Bridge is a famous truss bridge in China. It crosses Suzhou Creek. It's located in Shanghai, China. the length of this bridge is 106.7 meters with span of 52.16 meters. The construction of Garden Bridge was started in 1856 with a series of other bridges located in the same area. The bridge was completed in 1907.

The Victoria Falls Bridge is a famous arch bridge in Africa. It crosses the Zambezi River. It's located in the borders between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The length of this bridge is 198 meters with span of 156.5 meters. The construction of Victoria Falls Bridge was started in 1904 and the bridge was officially opened after 14 months, in 1905.

The Chapel Bridge is a famous wooden bridge in Europe. It crosses the Reuss River. It's located in Lucerne, Switzerland. The length of this bridge is 204 meters.

The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge is a famous suspension bridge in Asia. It crosses Akashi Strait. It's located in Kobe, Japan. It is the longest suspension bridge in the world. The length of this bridge is 3,911 meters with span of 1,991 meters. The construction of Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge was started in 1986 and the bridge was officially opened after almost 12 years, in 1998.
